Ian started with people who shared the greatest amounts of DNA with him. He placed these matches into a family tree. Ian tried to discover his connection to these shared DNA matches by working backwards via birth, marriage, and death records.
Progress was made building a family tree that connected Ian’s DNA relatives, though it was slow going. He worked out how he was connected to people he only shared 8 cM (centimorgans) with. Though he made no progress on his paternal Hunter line.
Ian found people that he shared DNA with that either have Hunter in their trees or have Hunter as their surname. Ian built mini trees to try to calculate how was he connected to shared DNA matches. Though never able to make a connection to Leigh or Joseph Leigh Hunter. Lots of people who share DNA with Ian, that have one Hunter or more in their trees.
