As more time passes, Ian decides that another approach might be necessary to try and crack the family mystery.

Ian was getting sort of desperate by this time. Still, he had not made any progress in finding Leigh Hunter. Ian considered trying different approaches, anything to make any progress on this family mystery.

By this time Ian is aware of the WikiTree.com and GEDmatch.com websites. The next approach was to search for all the people on WikiTree with connections to the surname Hunter. Then seeing if they have a GEDmatch kit associated with their WikiTree entry.

Using the GEDmatch kit numbers from WikiTree, Ian checked to see whether he shared any DNA with these people. In some cases he did, though never close enough to be certain which family line they could be on.

Ian still hadn’t found any connections to the mysterious Hunter paternal line. Though he had found a number second cousins on other family lines.

The search for Hunter relatives continued. Ian received messages from people with Hunter in their trees. These shared DNA matches were too small to be able to determine a concrete link. It was so frustrating.

It took a long time to go through the Hunters on WikiTree and GEDmatch, with nothing to show for it.
