Towards the end of 2018, Ian decided to upgrade his Y-DNA tests done at FamilyTreeDNA, taking his Y-DNA37 results to Y-DNA67.

At the end of April 2019, Ian decided he’d like a little more clarity on his paternal haplogroup, though not wanting to shell out for the full Y-DNA700 also known as the Big Y. The test that Ian ordered is called M343&M269v2 Backbone SNP Pack.

What did Ian find out from the upgrades, was still no close male relatives, though we now know a little more about the paternal haplogroup which is now narrowed down slightly to R-ZZ12_1.

Upgrading the Y-DNA tests FTDNA in steps isn’t the cheapest route, but it saves spending $ 449 USD in one go, please note that you don’t to get the raw data file from FTDNA, there is an additional charge for this data file.
