Ann’s father served at a nearby Royal Air Force base, which is why Ann was born in March 1966 at Nocton, North Kesteven, Lincolnshire. Ann had surgery at a young age to correct a problem with her eyes.
An amusing phrase Ann used as a very young child was “Too hetty for me”, the translation is “Too heavy for me”.
Schools that Ann attended:
- Ladybridge Infants School, Cheadle, Cheshire
- Hursthead Junior School, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire
- Dean Row County Junior School, Wilmslow, Cheshire
- Thorngrove County High School, Wilmslow, Cheshire
Having been married twice, she was known by two married surnames, firstly “Barnes”, then as “Wild”. Shortly after Ann’s marriage to Victor Barnes, they emigrated to Perth, Western Australia, though Ann returned to the UK alone.
Ann died in July 2023 at her home in Glossop, Derbyshire. She was 57 years old.
