Ian recently come across another spare Raspberry Pi 3B, which was in a cupboard. Being a bit of a techy and a music fan, Ian thought it was time to do something with it. So, it has become a music streamer for headphones in the study. Just download the latest version of Volumio:
It didn’t take Ian long to set up. It took longer to point the Volumio streamer at the Media NAS (network array storage). The NAS is where all of Ian’s and Sandra’s music etc. is stored. We purchased all the music either as a CD and ripped to FLAC or bought and downloaded as a FLAC.
Ian has been collecting CDs since 1985, when he purchased his first CD player. In 1985 Ian was working as a computer programmer for UMBRO.
One of Ian’s favourite musical artists is Midge Ure! One of Ian’s early purchases was the album “The Gift”, shown below at the bottom:

Now for the Ultravox music, before CDs it as was LPs, so I have bought some of the following in more than one format:

We previously alluded to previous posts that Ian discovered a connection to a musician. Confirmed via DNA tests, Jane, Ian and Jane’s father, Joseph, all share DNA with Midge. We also share DNA with some of Midge’s family, the connection is via Midge’s mother and Joseph’s mother.
As we’ve written before, you never really know what you are going to find when you start looking into family history and genealogy.
