A more palatable coffee for your taste buds and pocket

In these crazy times of soaring prices, Ian does enjoy a coffee in the morning, he calls it his “A caffeine kickstart”. Ian has had to drastically reduce his daily caffeine intact, never drinking coffee in the afternoon due to it keeping him awake and the blood pressure spike that caffeine causes.

Ian has one coffee per day, he used to have filter coffee, though it became redundant when he reduced his caffeine intake, so his one coffee is now the instant variety. Ian is partial to “NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND”, though these days it is difficult to justify the high price, at the time of writing this post 200g of Gold Blend is approx. £7 in the UK.

What Ian does is purchases something like the coffee below, which is £6 for 500g, the other larger supermarkets all have their own variants.

All of the supermarkets “Gold Coffee” blend is a mix of arabica and robusta coffee beans, unsurprising NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND” is also a mix of the same beans, though probably different ratios and probably selected from certain sources. 800g of “Gold Blend” would cost in the region of £28, hence Ian purchases the supermarket blends, though to overcome the bitter taste of the Robusta beans, Ian mixes in either of the following from Aldi:

By adding 3 jars of pure Arabica instant coffee to the 500g of supermarket “Gold” coffee you get 800g of a much better / smoother tasting coffee at least to Ian’s taste buds. Do the arithmetic ( 3 x 2.09 ) + 6 = £12.27, compare that to the cost of one of the prominent coffee brands for a similar amount of coffee, the DIY method is definitely the way to much more palatable coffee both taste and pocket wise.
